Katherine Boorstein is a writer and creative administrator based in New York, NY. Four of her short plays have been published by Samuel French Inc. She was invited to develop a new full-length work through La MaMa Umbria International, with a staged reading at La MaMa ETC in 2023. She was a member of Dramatic Question Theatre’s Fall 2022 PlayTime cohort and was selected for Don’t Tell Amy Productions’ Spring 2022 Draft One Festival development program. Katherine has written three produced short films. Her writing has been performed in CA, IL, RI, and NY, including off-off-Broadway at Symphony Space. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.

Katherine earned her BA in Playwriting from Brown University in 2016 and her MBA in Media & Entertainment at Columbia University in 2022. Prior to graduate school, Katherine spent 4 years representing TV screenwriters at ICM Partners Talent Agency in Los Angeles. She is the Managing Director of The Barr Hill Players, an acting retreat in rural Vermont, where she teaches stage writing and story healing workshops.

Katherine grew up in a Jewish family in the rural Christian town of Mt. Zion, IL, where theatre-making became her way of communicating across differences. Katherine’s work is interested in themes including women’s sexual self-discovery, mental health and disability advocacy, intergenerational wounds, reckoning with rural American values, and unconventional love stories.
